Using the Map

Layers - the map utilizes many layers which you may not see at first.  As you zoom in, certain layers will appear such as Parcels, Buildings, Address Numbers, etc...

Map Tools - the tools listed across the bottom of the map (Zoom In, Zoom Out, Identify, etc...) require you to click on the map.

Zoom Factor - this affects the Zoom Out and Zoom In tools only and increases or decreases to what degree your zooms will occur.  For example, a 4x factor will zoom in or out four times greater than a 1x factor.

Identify - by selecting the "Identify" tool and clicking on a map feature, the text boxes to the right of the map are populated with various information about the map features.  The dropdown box at the upper right allows you to choose between three different themes: Property Information, District Areas, and Public Services.

Tax Bill - if the dropdown list at the upper right has "Property Information" selected, then when the user selects a parcel on the map with the "Identify" map tool, a hyperlink will be activated called "Tax Bill..."   Click on the hyperlink and the Mobile County Revenue Commission's website will give you detailed tax information about the selected parcel.

Search Map

Helps you zoom the map to a particular Address, Public Facility, Downtown points of interest, Parcel, School, PLS Section, Street, Subdivision, or Zipcode.

Parcel Owner - when searching for Parcel Owners by last name, you have the option of typing the full last name or just the first 3 letters of the last name (it is not case sensitive.)  When you click on the Find button, a list of parcels with owner names that match your search will be listed at the bottom of the page.  Simply click on the word "Map" to the left of the parcel you would like the map to zoom to.

Zoning Notification

The Zoning Notification map tool allows the user to select all parcels within a distance (specified in the dropdown list) of a selected parcel.  Click on the "Zoning Notification" map tool and select a distance from the dropdown list below it.  On the map, click on a parcel and a list of the surrounding parcels will appear at the bottom of the page.  Click on the word "Map" to the left of the parcel name and the map will zoom to it.

Aerial Photos

In the right-bottom of the map is a checkbox for 2002 aerial photos.  Click the checkbox on and click on the "Refresh Map" button.  You have to be zoomed in to about the size of several city blocks before the photos will draw.

Print Map

Position the map to the area you are interested in and click on the "Print Map" button at the bottom-right of the map.
